This Easter… Ealing Foodbank is NOT asking for special donations!
This is due to your wonderful generosity during harvest and Christmas.
Instead, we have put together some short activities that you may like to ‘taste’ and see if they are helpful for you.
It is widely accepted that most people benefit from setting aside a time in which they consciously slow down, take stock of things and generally become more reflective on life.
Most world faiths encourage this and Lent is the time in the Christian calendar when people often give something up and try to live more simply for 40 days (6 weeks) – emulating the time Jesus spent in the wilderness at the beginning of His earthly ministry. It is used as a time of preparation and reflection, in anticipation of celebrating the resurrection and a new beginning at Easter.
Lent begins at Ash Wednesday (Wed 26th Feb) and ends on Easter Saturday; this is more than 40 days long! Sundays are not usually included, they are regarded as mini feast days, something to keep us going on the journey.
The activities are not religious in nature but are based on Bible themes. You can find the whole list here.
If you would like to contribute to the ongoing work of the foodbank,
we are suggesting a donation of 40p per day (£16.00 by the end of Lent).
No one will check up on you – it is entirely up to you!
